Martin Eden in Villefranche Theater

Martin Eden, a young sailor from the slums, sees his life turned upside down by his encounter with Ruth Morse. Driven first by love and then by conviction, he decides to become a writer, torn between his working-class roots and the intellectual world he is discovering. In this adaptation of Jack London’s novel, Mélodie-Amy Wallet portrays Martin as a modern-day Don Quixote, swept away by a romantic and literary ideal that will lead him from rise to fall.
